MKS Vacuum Gauge Controller

    Folks,

A few days ago I asked if anyone had written EPICS device support for the MKS
937 Vacuum Gauge controller. Hearing no response, I went ahead and wrote it.
I did it by writing device support for the AI record using HiDEOS serial
support. It does all the right stuff like raising alarms on invalid response
or response timeouts, etc.

Apart from a few minor glitches caused mainly by my not reading the
documentation carefully it was remarkably painless.

My hat is definitely off to Jim Kolakowski for HiDEOS, which is great stuff!

Anyone would like to get a copy of my stuff, either to run the MKS or as an
example of writing HiDEOS support, can get it from:
    ftp://cars.uchicago.edu/pub/epics/MKS_stuff.tar.Z

                                   Mark

P.S. For those who may be interested, the MKS 937 can control up to 5 gauges.
We plan to use them typically to control 2 cold-cathode and 2 Pirani gauges.
