Interfaces between CATS and APS beamline controls?

Dear all,

Here are some questions about system interactions -

To what extent do the CATS data acquisition and experimental systems have to
interface with the APS beamline controls? I've heard that the beam needs to be
retuned/resteered depending on which sectors are demanding beam at any given
time.

Are there any systems (either CATS-beamline or internal to either group) that
require the beam to be reconfigured based on processed experimental data - like
in automatic tuning runs...

I would guess that each experimental setup (including the beamline controls) 
has its own system for data reduction, handling, and archival?

At some point we (Gemini) will be dealing with identical issues as all of our
instruments/detectors are being built elsewhere by different groups with only
loose association with this Controls group - so I'm really interested in how
these problems are dealt with in the APS/CATS environment.
