Changes to Stepper Motor Record

Various people have been talking about making modifications to the stepper motor 
record.  Would anyone doing this have time to add a couple of enhancements which 
probably have widespread use?  These are:

1. Simulation fields - as far as I can make out this record type only works when 
there is hardware present.

2. Support for the Home sensor (datum switch), which I know can be connected to 
the OMS card.

These were on my list of tasks for the Gemini Standard Instrument Controller 
development, but if someone else is making changes to this record it might be 
more sensible if they could do this as well.  Of the two, I think the simulation 
is probably more important.
